Men: Keeping The Temperature Up In Autumn
This autumn knitwear will give us guys the opportunity to be stylish before arctic winds blow our swagger aside replacing it with the need to keep warm. Just like this time last year, wool and cotton cardigans are back! Take inspiration from the Prada, Vivienne Westwood and D&G fashion shows. This year, knitwear is holding its own on the runway.
Key features
A key look will be the shawl collar. The Zara, Esprit and Uniqlo lines have a vintage influence, including a range of thick woollen cardigans. You can find light luxurious pieces, slim fits or for something a bit heavier, try a long cardigan jacket. This will be just what you need for the forthcoming chilly nights.
In the same way that you need to look the business for every occasion, you’ll also need a chunky cable cardigan in your wardrobe. For a fresh modern look, match with jeans, a tee and a pair of brogues.
Colours
The main lines will be muted and neutral – expect to see grey, blue and tan everywhere. If you really can’t stand the idea of wearing muted blue or grey all winter then try Gap’s range of V-neck knitwear which comes in a wide variety of colours.
Price range
When I flicked the tag on the sleeveless cardigans from Pull and Bear I wasn’t expecting to see £16.99, good value. Uniqlo's cashmere merino V-neck cardigans start from £29.99. Carhartt, Next and the majority of high street retailers start between £45 and £55.
Hot pick
Check out ‘Our Legacy’ a brand soon to be established for their classic look, functionality and quality. If you get on it quick, you can still snap up some bargains in the sales. Check out The Glass Boutique and Selfridges sales, they always have gems you might want to add to your collection.
