Usher Rejects Idol
R&B star Usher has turned down a chance to occupy the much-coveted position as new American Idol judge. Rumours circulated last year, that after Simon Cowell’s departure from the show, a new panel consisting of Usher, Elton John and a returning Paula Abdul would be formed.
Personally, he has claimed one of the reasons for his decline, is due to the fact that he doesn’t want to be mean to anyone – as there is the occasional dream crushing that occurs on the show.
His dismissal of the offer is supported by the notion that he is too busy esteeming young talent – more specifically, that of Canadian sensation Justin Bieber. Usher said: "Justin's like my little brother. I'd rather coach. I'd feel bad judging people on TV."
Usher could have potentially been a good, objective judge, but he’s right – it takes a lot to go as far as Simon does sometimes! Seeing as Ellen Degenres is leaving the show for the same reason Usher does not wish to get involved, it would seem Mr. Raymond is making the right choice.
